What New Parents Should Know About Pediatrician Visits

Becoming new parents isn't easy. There's so much to consider. You have room to get ready and several decisions to make, such as whether formula or breast is best. However, at Tri-Valley Pediatrics, serving San Ramon & Pleasanton, CA, and the nearby region, our providers don't want you to stress over pediatrician visits. Therefore, this is what you should know about them.

We Welcome Questions

When you visit us at one of our offices in San Ramon & Pleasanton, CA, your doctor will provide you with all the information you need to know as a new parent for your child's age and shortly thereafter. However, we understand we may not cover everything, and there may be something we missed or didn't go into enough depth.

We encourage new parents to ask us questions. We want you to make the best decisions for your little one and be able to take care of your child to the best of your ability.

We'll Continuously Monitor Growth

The growth of your child may be completely normal for their age. However, if they're growing too slowly or too rapidly at any point, it could signify an issue. Therefore, at every visit, we'll be monitoring their weight and height. In the first two years, we'll measure your child's head circumference and compare it to the previous measurement. We could measure it after that age as well if we're noticing any potential signs of a problem. By knowing this, we can help you along the way to promote healthy growth. And if there are any issues, we can intervene as needed.

The First Year Is the Busiest

In the first year, you'll have more visits for your little one than at any other stage during their development. This is because issues can arise suddenly, especially in a newborn. For instance, even a little weight loss can be a reason for concern.

Once they're out of the newborn stage, your baby will have fewer visits. The number will continuously decrease until they need only one a year, unless they have a health concern that needs more monitoring.

We're Available Outside of Appointments

If you have questions, please don't hesitate to call us, even if you just had a visit. We want you to have all the knowledge you need.

Tri-Valley Pediatrics, serving San Ramon & Pleasanton, CA, and the general vicinity, has pediatricians who want to help your child grow and develop.
